If you enjoy the Rocky Mountains in the winter, you will really enjoy the summer. Unlike most outdoor adventure areas you will find Fernie relatively void of flies. This is probably due to, that there is very little standing water. Summer in the Rockies is something to experience as the air has the most incredible aroma. There is a fresh breeze off the mountains, cool and refreshing mixed with the scent of flowers. The mountains around you look like they have been painted onto the sky. Fly fishing in the Fernie area is restricted waters. That means you will have to get a license for different areas daily. But it is worth it. Most people I know feel the Elk Valley has some the best fly fishing anywhere in the world. Walk and wade, float or stop and cast.
